    Creating an environment for free education and technology-enhanced learning

    The purpose of this paper is to present a project aimed at making knowledge publically available through opene ducational resources (OER). The focus is on open online courses which will be created by educational institutions and best practice examples offered by leading companies, with the purpose to support life-long education and enhancement of academic education with practical knowledge. The goal is to create diverse high quality educational materials in electronic format, which will be publically available. The educational material will follow basic pedagogical-didactic principles, in order to best meet the needs of the potential learners. In accordance with that a review of didactic principles that can contribute to producing OER content of excellence is given. The choice of a convenient platform, as well as the application of appropriate information technologies enable content representation in a suitable, innovative and meaningful way

    This study aimed to develop the teaching material for integrated natural science learning in junior high school using 4 steps teaching material development (4STMD) method. There were four steps that should be conducted comprised of selection, structuring, characterization, and didactic reduction. The method used in this study was Research and Development (R&D), so that understanding test was conducted more then once, which are before and after didactic reduction step. The first understanding test result in the average of percentage that are 53,7% and 53,8%. After didactic reduction, the second understanding test result in the average of percentage that is 65,8%. The next test was the feasability test of the teaching material that result in the average of percentage 76,9%, which is in the very good category

    This paper falls into two parts: (i) The first part argues that Works and Days is more coherently organised, and displays greater coherence of thought, than many interpreters recognise. However, the last part of the poem (from 695), heterogeneous and loosely structured, poses severe problems. (ii) The second part is concerned with the end(s) to which the Hesiodic poems were composed. It is argued that neither Works and Days (which is formally a didactic poem) nor Theogony (which is not) can be fully explained in didactic terms. The poetics of the Theogony proem emphasise beauty and pleasure, and take a cautious view of the truth of poetry; similar inferences can be drawn from Homer. However, this does not exclude the possibility that the poet's intentions were partially, but not solely, didactic.     Tesis (Pedagogía en Inglés)Nowadays, the instruction of vocabulary on the acquisition and learning of English as a second language is important and it has been recognized as a relevant aspect by academics and theoreticians of the area. The aim of this study is to prove, through a concrete and an experimental form, the effectiveness of the constructivist strategy that uses the elaboration of didactic material as an improvement manner for the acquisition and learning of explicit vocabulary that, at the same time, may be meaningful to the pupils. The “Learning by Doing” strategy has been built under the perspective of the theory of constructivism, which has been adapted to be applied on two different educational establishments; both subsidized. The first school is located in El Belloto and the second school institution located in Villa Alemana. Accordingly, the thesis study was carried out on 5 different courses with a final average of 132 students. This inquiry has a quantitative nature with a quasi – experimental design that has as a sample a paired – dependent kind, which took into account the control subunits and the experimental subunits from each EFL (English as a Foreign Language) classroom where the strategy previously mentioned was conducted. As described on the previous paragraph, the results were analyzed using a mathematical – statistical type of measurement denominated “T – Test” table. These demonstrated that the constructivist strategy namely “Learning by Doing” improve the learning of explicit vocabulary on those grades belonging to the primary education. El objetivo de esta investigación es probar a través de una forma concreta y experimental la efectividad de una estrategia que usa la elaboración de material didáctico como manera de mejorar la adquisición y el aprendizaje del vocabulario explícito, y que éste a su vez sea significativo para el alumno. La estrategia “Learning by Doing” ha sido construida bajo la perspectiva de la teoría del constructivismo, la cual ha sido adaptada para ser aplicada en dos establecimientos educacionales diferentes, ambos subvencionados. El primero situado en El Belloto y el segundo ubicado en Villa Alemana. Por consiguiente, esta investigación se realizó en 5 cursos diferentes con un promedio final de 132 alumnos. Esta investigación tiene una naturaleza cuantitativa con un diseño cuasi – experimental y tiene como muestra un tipo dependiente y pareado, la cual tomó en consideración las subunidades controles y las subunidades experimentales de cada clase “EFL” en donde la estrategia previamente mencionada fue llevada a cabo. Según lo descrito en el párrafo anterior, los resultados fueron analizados usando un tipo de medición matemático – estadística denominada tabla “T – Test”. Éstos demostraron que la estrategia constructivista nombrada “Learning by Doing” mejoró el aprendizaje de vocabulario explícito en aquellos cursos pertenecientes a la educación general básica. Sin embargo, el curso perteneciente a la enseñanza media no mostró ninguna señal de mejoramiento cuando la estrategia que usa la elaboración de material didáctico llegó a su fin

    Sixth Edition Technological Ecosystems for Enhancing MulticulturalityMathematics is an essential branch for the scientific development and its study is mandatory in most university degrees. However, currently the level of academic performance and motivation of students to learn this science is not the desired one. The students can use different learning tools inside and outside the math classroom, enhancing the quality of the learning materials that are designed essentially to facilitate the learning of mathematics. The present research project aims to determine the validity and reliability of a measurement instrument that allows theassessment of the satisfaction of the students with the availablelearning materials. To fulfill the objectives of this research, the method of survey was used. A study with a quantitative approach was developed, which led to the design and validation of a questionnaire by a group of 7 experts. The validation closed after applying a pilot study with 728 students. It concluded positively, obtaining nine factors that coincide with the revision of the literature: technological quality, quality of content, visual quality, didactic significance, adequacy of content, relationship between theory and practice, involvement, contribution to learning, relevance and interaction between educational actors. The results of this questionnaire provide to the international scientific community with relevant information for the design, selection, and use of study materials in the classrooms, which will contribute to raising the levels of student engagement, and their academic performance in mathematics, secondaril

    Design of materials and educational resources adapted to ETCS: project of application of the new technologies to teaching of History of the Spanish Language and its varieties

    The adaptation to the new European Higher Education Area favors the assumption of the new technologies as one of the means that improve the quality of education and the process of student’s learning. The best assimilation of the theoretical and practical contents of the different subjects and the stimulus that the use of these resources for the independent learning of the student supposes, justify the attention lent to the formal aspects of the educational methodology, and to its consequent didactic process. The project that we presented finds its justification in the measures that the University of Cadiz has started up in the occasion of the process of European Convergence, and that are materialized, in this case, in the Call of Educative Innovation of the educational and investigating personnel of the European Project. Our work assumes as main target the optimization of the educational resources, from the possibilities that offer new technical means, with the creation of educational, audio-visual and computerized material, adapted to the contents of the implied subjects, and with a joint work of the teaching staff who allows the creation of a repository of computerized material that has stable character and that can be taken advantage of by the group in its later educational work.     Narratives from YouTube: Juxtaposing stories about physical education

    The aim of this paper is to explore what is performed in students’ and teachers’ actions in physical education practice in terms of “didactic irritations,” through an analysis of YouTube clips from 285 PE lessons from 27 different countries. Didactic irritations are occurrences that Rønholt describes as those demanding “didactic, pedagogical reflections and discussions, which in turn could lead to alternative thinking and understanding about teaching and learning.” Drawing on Barad’s ideas of performativity to challenge our habitual anthropocentric analytical gaze when looking at educational visual data, and using narrative construction, we also aim to give meaning to actions, relations, and experiences of the participants in the YouTube clips. To do this, we present juxtaposing narratives from teachers and students in terms of three “didactic irritations”: (a) stories from a track, (b), stories from a game, and (c), stories from a bench. The stories re-present events-of-moving in the data offering insights into embodied experiences in PE practice, making students’ as well as teachers’ actions in PE practice understandable

    Development of Mathematics Didactic Design with Integration of Peer Instruction Regarding Representational Ability of High School Students

    This study focuses on the ability of representation with the integration of peer instruction which was developed through didactic design development research. The purpose of this research is to develop a didactic design in the form of learning tools, which are referred to in this study, namely: Lesson Plans, Teaching materials in the form of Student Worksheet in the form of student guides containing material information, sample questions, and practice questions. According to the problems experienced by students related to the ability of representation. The process of developing learning tools using Didactical Design Research (DDR), consists of didactic situation analysis, metapedadidactic analysis, and retrospective analysis. The didactic design developed was validated by 3 experts, namely 1 mathematics education lecturer and 2 high school mathematics teachers. The results showed that the learning plans were obtained in the form of a didactic design in the form of lesson plans that integrated peer instruction and worksheets for 8 meetings with the overall results of each aspect of the learning device being analyzed descriptively by revising the didactic design based on input and notes from the validator. Mathematics didactic design in high school to minimize learning obstacles related to students' representational abilities, includes 1) The material begins with the introduction of problems that are suitable for the situation and even related to the context of daily life, providing an overview of the benefits of the material to be studied, 2) Strengthening the material prerequisites presented at the first meeting, 3) Integrating peer instruction in the implementation of mathematics learning, 4) Providing scaffolding at the time of learning, 5) Student work and assignments are corrected and confirmed directly. In addition, the process of strengthening the visual representation process, modeling or mathematical expression, and the process of making written words presented on the worksheets is also carried out. Thus, the mathematical didactic design with the integration of peer instruction has provided appropriate learning activities; the purpose, depth and accuracy of the concepts and materials presented are traceable, communicative, the clarity of the images and spelling is appropriate, there is no correction given by the validator, so it can be implemented with the aim of developing students' mathematical representation abilities
